Alpine is a very small town – population ~254, according to Wikipedia. If you need to have your arrows fletched, this is the place to go.
Also – if you need your heating equipment attended to, this is where you will find the repairman.
But if you are there at lunch time, you may have to track down the owner where he is dining at The Bear Wallow Café.
Looks like a reusable sign. Wonder if he eats there everyday or if he has different signs for where he’s going to eat today. I like the concept. It says, yes, come interrupt my lunch if you really need me. Or join me if you are just looking to talk. And it assumes you’d recognize him either way.

Thanks for looking, Linda. Yes, I suspect he eats there often enough to make the sign worthwhile. The reverse side probably says that he is eating lunch at the Lollipop Shop, in the Alpine Grill, which is across the street from the Bear Wallow, and just a few steps from his shop.
The next closest place to dine is at the Tal-Wi-Wi Lodge, around the corner and down 191 three miles.

We chatted one day with a gentleman who had just purchased a thrice-failed restaurant on the main street of town, just a short distance from the extant two eateries. Renovations have begun on this newly-named restaurant, Foxfire, which is a kind of luminescent fungus that apparently grows around here. It is to open on April 15th, 2013. We hope to be here next year to see it in operation.
