Roadrunner Fast Food

roadrunner on mbp.blog

Haven’t seen anything of the injured female for several weeks, but Lazarus has been around for a few visits during that time. They don’t seem to stay around for very long – maybe a half day, or even less.

I usually have to shoot through the kitchen window, so his portraits are always “soft focus”, but if I go out onto the deck, he is gone like a shot.

You can see him larger, even if not more clearly, by clicking on his pretty eye color.

Thanks, Martha. Hope you have a glorious trip. We’ll all be waiting to hear all about it. Hopefully your cooler situation will work out well for you.

Ha! I did not know that roadrunners ate bird of paradise. You caught him in the act! I’m surprised, since it is a poisonous plant, but with low toxicity. Also, there is something on the ground behind the bird of paradise, just left of center, that looks furry, though it’s hard to tell. Any idea what it is?

I’m not sure that he actually ATE any of the plant. He may be nearsighted and thought that there was a lizard on the end of the branch! He tested out a few places for suitability, but then never really chomped on anything. He moved on down the fence and into the next yard, and I couldn’t see him any more. I don’t know what that fuzzy bit is. Just some debris; a fair amount of it blows down that alley.

I never know how often any of them show up because I can’t peer out the window ALL the time! But they appear often enough that I know they’re around quite a bit of the time. They are really giving us great entertainment.

Very nice pic of Lazarus. Spotting, much less getting a pic of a roadrunner, is nothing short of the same for a UFO! So good work, Dr. J.
