The other morning DH called me out onto the deck first thing in the morning. Hey, I’m still making my coffee . . . but I grabbed my camera and ran out. The reward was a vision that looked for all the world like this mountain (located just over the border in Mexico) had erupted in a plume of cloud!
I think the mountain is San Jose Peak. There is a blog post about it from 2008. I don’t know this person, but I thought the blog entry was interesting.

Neat! It is indeed San Jose Peak in Mexico.

There is another mountain just to the right of San Jose Peak, but the curvature of the earth in perspective makes it look much smaller, although we’ve been told it is the same size. Do you know the name of that mountain?

I know which one you mean. You get a better view of it out at Coronado National Memorial. But, no, I don’t know its name.

Does it look to be the same size as San Jose Peak from Coronado?

Haven’t been out there in a while, but I seem to remember it looked smaller than San Jose.

We get a lot of convection clouds during the monsoon season. Sometimes they shoot up like rocket mushrooms, especially over top of the mountains.
