Cilantro – a new favorite

Home from the clinic and starving – as usual! DH had a bowl of brown rice and Peruano beans with Italian sausage – very internacional!

My bowl looked like the above. You can’t see the delicious chicken stew that was under the bowties. It was big chicken pieces, small sausage pieces, onion, celery, carrots, leftover greens (collards, I think) and mushrooms. I spread a bit of horseradish Cheddar cheese on top, sprinkled it with cilantro, and grabbed a few of the tomato pieces off the veggie plate.

Below is our dessert. Looks are deceiving. That “bowl” will hold a maximum of half a cup of anything, so there really isn’t much sour cream in there. I hauled out the zesteur to shave off some orange rind, and poked a few pieces of chocolate in the bowl. We dipped some of the strawberries into this wonderful concoction, leaving one berry and a lot of the sour cream for later. The chocolate bits? All gone!

Oh, and those strawberries? They were soooo sweet – as sweet as they look. A wonderful combination of the soft and creamy sour cream, the sharper orange rind, and the sweetness of the strawberries and chocolate.

Cilantro has been my lifetime favourite. My mother loved it so much. I wish I could see that delicious chicken you’re hiding underneath, and are you sure that dessert bowl only holds half a cup…mmm looks can be deceiving indeed. I would have started with dessert….enjoy the day!
