ANNOUNCEMENT: Since there has been increased traffic on the “Animals Spotted” page recently, I have been spurred into paying more attention to it. There is no lack of events to post there, I’ve just been lazy. I’ve put up a bit of a catch-up narrative just now, and will try to keep it going.
Thanks for looking at it; we love the animals that choose to come near us, and sharing them with you makes it all the more special.
AND NOW, back to our regularly-scheduled blogs about food, and, hopefully soon – some travel experiences.

This is our queen pineapple – she was seen in several posts recently. Below are her three ladies in waiting. I try to keep several ahead – ripening at appropriate intervals. I think tomorrow will bring a new fruit to our breakfast bar.
Pineapples are really quite amazing. At this time of year, a whole one costs slightly under a dollar, and when I chop it into bits, there are about four cups of squares to devour. They are juicy, exquisitely piquant, and sweet – all at the same time. When there is downtime between pineapples . . . oh, the pain! ;-> I think I have it down for the next couple of weeks with these beauties.
Sunday brunch was just not the same last week without it!
The pineapple I had last week was wonderful, a little messy to cut up, but well worth it. I would have bought another one right away, but I got strawberries, blackberries, and cherries yesterday, and still have a few days worth of grapes left. I would live on fruits and vegetables but would have to watch myself lose weight if I did. They are my preferred foods though.

Can’t go wrong with nature’s bounty. Pineapples can take a week to ripen, and I am not that patient; hence the line of succession that we keep underway. Actually, we have been without for almost a week. Will fix that tomorrow!

Look at those big fat juicy things. I love slicing into one of those and chopping it into chunks for a snack.

They are frequently priced at 3#/.$99; sometimes they just say $.97 each. They are about three pounds each, so it works out the same either way. This morning I cut up the first of the three shown, and there were at least five cups of cubes. I completely filled a quart Pyrex container and had about another cup to put into our cereal.
