Rascal Raccoon – A FIRST! ;->

MOULTRIE DIGITAL GAME CAMERA

We have often wondered if there were raccoons in the area, but in seventeen years here, we have never seen one. We assumed it was the lack of sufficient water available for them to “prepare” their repasts.

So you can imagine how thrilled we were to see this guy’s picture on the camera card yesterday.

It looks like he has waded in a little way since his feet seem to be immersed in the water. The supply is automatically refreshed every afternoon, but sometimes the bigger animals drain it down a bit at night and we don’t notice. There are stones in the water pond so that if the water does get low, the birds can still get to it by “walking on water” a bit.

Have a peek at ANIMALS SPOTTED – on the left at the top under the banner picture – for a new picture posted there. We had lots of coyotes and rabbits during this period. Presume they come separately!

    Javalinas, rabbits, baby coyotes, a snake… and now the racoon! What a show! 🙂

    My mom had a raccoon who ate the cat food on the front porch. He was smart enough to lift the lid on the wooden container and help himself 🙂

    Not surprised by your collection of animals. Next thing you’ll be showing us a lion out front down yonder. Lol.
