Today’s Safeway $5. special is Havarti cheese. What is better than Havarti cheese? At the moment, not a single thing comes to mind . . . except if this is what happens at lunch time. What? You can’t see the Havarti cheese? It is there . . . a nice slab on each of the top and the bottom of this wonderfully nutritious sandwich bun, made with a generous scoop of pumpernickel meal and a good sprinkling of teff in with the flour.
Believe it or not, I managed to get that whole thing into my mouth with only a small spillover of slippery onions and avocado. But so worth it! Totally delicious and satisfying!!!
Havarti is soooo good, that it should probably be illegal.
Looks good, but I can’t imagine being able to get the whole thing into your mouth! I could only try it in privacy and at home!

Since I was at home, I just gave it a whirl. I lost a few onion slivers, and a piece of avocado escaped, but oh, my – that was a delicious combination!!!

It’s not as potent as sharp Cheddar, but it is really good.

Love Havarti. Your burger looks yummy.
There’s a restaurant/café somewhat near us that makes a Dill Havarti Soup that is to die for! I’d like to find the recipe to make it.

Sounds good. I’ve made lots of different cream soups and added Swiss or Havarti. These cheeses add a different taste than the more traditional Cheddars.

Oh, that would be wonderful. I have a reader in Northern Germany, and it looks like you are not that far apart! It has been such fun doing the blog. I hope you look at it from time to time. We haven’t seen Frances yet this week, but will be calling her today.
