This is a rough draft of a soup I have in mind for a company dinner next Sunday. I thought I would give it a test run today, and the result was sooooo good, I fear that duplication will not be possible.
I’ll list the ingredients here so I don’t forget what I did.
Red onions, softened by sautéeing
Ham bone broth
Ham bits
Last of the salsa
Milk and flour shaken up together for thickening
Broccoli bits on top
I was going to put in some nice melty medium Cheddar cheese, but it was already so salty that I didn’t dare. Had there been lemon available, that would have gone in at table. DH thought the saltiness was perfect; a bit too much for my tastes.
The blue bag of goodies is compliments of our friend, Old Jersey Lady. Yes, the very one the pizza is named after! ;->
I need to stop reading your blog before dinner because then dinner really disappoints.

This was really easy; stuff I had lying about. It was very satisfying. Glad you liked it!

Nice idea, to add the salsa to the soup. 🙂

I do that very frequently. It provides a lot of different favors in a small portion each so as not to overwhelm. Also, if a new bucket of salsa gets started before the old one is finished, this is a good way to deal with it.

you are really lucky. If you would have seen how much it rained in the last days (more than cats and dogs), you would kiss the earth where you live.
