Stir Fry with Orecchiette

stir fry chix bacon.blog

I just love the bright colors of any stir fry, and this one was especially good. I wrapped a piece of bacon around already-cooked boneless chicken thighs, reheated them enough so that the bacon cooked, and served them with the stir fried veggies over orecchiette.

Orecchiette are interesting little shapes, but they tend to stick together unless they are kept furiously boiling in about eight quarts of water! I put too many in too little water, and many were so fond of one another that they refused to be parted. There were enough to eat for this meal, and I salvaged a couple of cups of them for another meal, but mostly . . . well, I’ll just leave this shape to those with larger pans.

I loved everything on the plate! I’ve always liked the looks of this pasta but rarely ever cook or eat pasta any more.

They ARE cute little guys, but I won’t be using them again. Way more trouble than they are worth. Medium shells, or some sort of spirals would be just as useful, I think.

  2. Such a healthy and colorful plate!
Orecchiette is really a nice pasta shape, but I always need to get past the meaning in Italian – “small ears”… 😀

My life is not so wonderful right now, I’m sick with a cold, fever, coughing etc. and no sun, too. I don’t even have appetite for anything, even looking at your photo doesn’t make any appetite. Very rare. Will loose some kilos, hopefully.

Oh, so sorry to hear this! Being sick really does put a damper on life. Eating well will help your body to repair itself, so I implore you to force feed yourself the most nutritious food you can find. Drink lots of fluids, preferably at body temperature so your body doesn’t have to spend energy to warm it.

I am sending you good thoughts of nutritious soups to ease your pains! Keep your chest and abdomen especially warm; that’s where all the work is done to heal your body.

Keep in touch so we will know how you are doing!
