I think you are correct! I wouldn’t pick that flower, either. Looks a lot like a thistle to me. 🙂
We call them Paper Poppies, but I’m sure that is not the correct name for them. They are very flighty in the wind. I took this with my iPhone, but Gary went back for a session with his dSLR.

Looks like a nice setting for the wildflowers!
They are starting to fade a bit now, but we have had an incredibly brilliant spring with the roses and the wildflowers.
