Moros y Cristianos

The sliders hogged the picture, but at the top left is a bowl of black beans and rice – hence the blog title.  I’d heard the term applied to this food dish, but did not know it was a festival as well.  Browse through the net on the subject – it’s interesting.

The roasted green chiles on top really added the perfect touch.  Sour cream adds a nice contrast.  Oh, and a spoonful of tomato salsa or guacamole would have been good, too.

The sliders are on the cheese rolls – Swiss cheese, thinly-sliced roast pork, ham, and turkey, topped with a cucumber slice.   I heated them in the toaster oven to melt the cheese, and then put on the cucumber slices.

Barely a bite each, they were so flavorful!

My new favorite moistener for this type of sandwich is Marie’s sesame ginger Cole slaw dressing.  It really perks up the whole sandwich.  Marie’s jalapeño dressing is good on this, for a bit of extra bite.   Hard to choose.

Is it lunchtime yet?

They look pretty good, although I’m just getting ready to eat breakfast. I left a comment on yesterday’s post, but it didn’t ever show up. So today I’ll just see if this one flies!
