We really miss the luscious strawberries and pit fruits of summer, but the recent discovery of pomegranate seeds has certainly enlivened our winter fruits.

I keep meaning to buy a pomegranate and see what it’s all about. To tell the truth, when I hear it described how to get whatever it is out of the shell, it sounds like an awful lot of work for something that doesn’t really look appetizing to me. But everything I’ve heard about them indicate they are truly delicious. One of these days. . . .

I just pointed my iPhone at the fruit we ate on our cereal a couple of days ago. It was delish!

They seem to last. I have two as well, but they are only a dollar right now, so I may get two more and store them in the back of my refrigerator.

I just saw in tv that somebody put the seeds of the pommegranates into red cabbage, which we eat a lot around X’mas. Maybe I’ll try that out. Otherwise I use it as desert with joghurt and honey. I wish you some wonderful days with you great food 🙂

Thank you for the wishes. The seeds in cabbage sounds intriguing. I might sprinkle them on a green salad to see what that is like.

We used to eat pomegranates when I was a kid. I remember not liking the crunch of the seeds. Am I remembering right? Are the seeds hard inside? I know they are good for us, and sure look good in a salad.

They are not what I would call hard, but they do have some resistance. A few in a dish provide some sparkle, but I wouldn’t want to eat a big spoonful of them on their own.

The “friends” are the banana, red grapes, apple, and blackberries. I’m about to publish an inside look at fruit preservation!

I’ve always wanted to try fresh pomegranate. Does it have a sour taste or sweet?

Yes! Both! Just sprinkle on something as an accent note. Not to eat by the handful like popcorn. I resisted for decades, but am now a big fan.
