I just love those birds. They are amusing just being themselves.

Quite true. We have a mated pair that amuse us on nearly a daily basis. For a while, they were spending a lot of time in a bower in the next yard, and we thought there would be babies there instead of in our hedge this time, but alas, they seem to have found it not quite suitable and moved on. I still hear that ratcheting noise they make, so they are near by somewhere. They were practicing making babies in the alley a couple of days ago, so maybe the nest building of a couple of weeks ago was a bit premature. I don’t know how long after fertilization of the eggs that they need to find a nesting place, but it could be any time now, I guess.

Now THAT’S a possibility because the coyotes have been around most every morning and evening lately. They are very wary, though, on the lookout for marauding roadrunners, no doubt! ;->
