A Man and a Woman

I was going to show you the second round of the chicken salad in this post, but our visit to the Cancer Clinic today provided a new, and much more exciting, target for the camera in my iPhone. You may recall having seen the first of what I hope is a series of these beautiful pieces –

The Eyelash Ladies

Today I noticed that a second piece had been added. These are tiny pieces – probably not more than six inches high (although I did not measure them). The exquisiteness of them just blows me away. I don’t know who the artist is, but am going to see if I can track it down by asking the practice manager.

Needless to say, the theme from the movie “A Man and a Woman” is now churning around and around in my brain. If you’d like to have this same experience . . . click here:

Oddly enough, I have not seen the movie (1966 – Anouk Aimee and Jean-Louis Trigtignant), and was surprised to see that there is a follow-on movie (A Man and a Woman: 20 Years Later) that depicts this same couple twenty years later – in 1986. Now they are both on my radar for viewing.

As I read the synopsis for each of these movies, I was struck that I had seen other more contemporary movies with a similar theme. The most recent was “At Middleton”, starring Vera Farmiga and Andy Garcia. It was a sweet movie – very enjoyable to watch.

And more important than all of the above is that the cancer markers were all improved after just two rounds of chemotherapy. We are in the third month of this series and hopeful that there will be a rest period coming up in the not-too-distant future.
