A Man and a Woman

a man and a woman.blog

I was going to show you the second round of the chicken salad in this post, but our visit to the Cancer Clinic today provided a new, and much more exciting, target for the camera in my iPhone. You may recall having seen the first of what I hope is a series of these beautiful pieces –

The Eyelash Ladies

Today I noticed that a second piece had been added. These are tiny pieces – probably not more than six inches high (although I did not measure them). The exquisiteness of them just blows me away. I don’t know who the artist is, but am going to see if I can track it down by asking the practice manager.

Needless to say, the theme from the movie “A Man and a Woman” is now churning around and around in my brain. If you’d like to have this same experience . . . click here:

Oddly enough, I have not seen the movie (1966 – Anouk Aimee and Jean-Louis Trigtignant), and was surprised to see that there is a follow-on movie (A Man and a Woman: 20 Years Later) that depicts this same couple twenty years later – in 1986. Now they are both on my radar for viewing.

As I read the synopsis for each of these movies, I was struck that I had seen other more contemporary movies with a similar theme. The most recent was “At Middleton”, starring Vera Farmiga and Andy Garcia. It was a sweet movie – very enjoyable to watch.

And more important than all of the above is that the cancer markers were all improved after just two rounds of chemotherapy. We are in the third month of this series and hopeful that there will be a rest period coming up in the not-too-distant future.

First of all, I’m keeping my fingers crossed for Gary. Things sound very hopeful.
The figures of the man and woman are excquisite. I wouldn’t hae believed they are only 6″ or so tall. Never having been a movie watcher (I’d rather read the book), I have no clue about the rest of the post but I’ll take your word for it!

Thanks for the wishes. I haven’t seen the movies, either, but enjoy the older ones much more than most of the contemporary ones.

The only old movie I might consider watching again would be “Casablanca”. They don’t make ’em like that any more!

That’s for dang sure! ;-> I’d watch a few of our own oldies again, but we have several on DVD that we wanted to watch again – but then never have in about 15 years, i.e. “Out of Africa”. Maybe someday, when life slows down a bit, we’ll catch up with these few classics.

Whoa! I DEFINITELY see the resemblance! Although I have not yet seen the G-Man in a tie, I immediately recognized him. . .and his earth angel, Dr. J!
