For the last couple of weeks, the level in the water pond has been going down faster than usual. We assumed that either the javelinas or the deer were hitting it hard at night.
These four ladies were here about seven o’clock for a morning drink.
That evening they came back with two additional friends and nibbled on the pomegranate tree and tomato plants in the yard next door.
Now I remember why I don’t try to grow anything in our yard! It would take a twelve-foot fence to keep them out of the yard!!!
Very cool! I’d forgotten how big ears are on mule deer. It must be super important to be aware of predators in that environment.

There are lots of coyotes around here. But I haven’t seen any sign that a deer has been attacked anywhere around here. Maybe out where we can’t see.

I know what you are talking about. Though they are a pretty sight it gets difficult sometimes. And especially driving at nights we have to be real careful because they come sprinting from nowhere 😀

You are so right about the fence ! I had a herd of deer in my yard a couple weeks ago and my neighbors saw them jump the fence into my back yard. Needless to say they loved my bush!!
