Electric Ice Cream

Summer isn’t completely over in Arizona, so the ice cream truck is still a welcome sight.

The sign says “100% Electric”, and if you look carefully, you can see a lot of electrical cords hanging down by the back wheel.  The extension cord must be very long.

I don’t know if they actually sold ice cream from this truck at any time, but when we passed by, there was no sign of activity.  I did find the ice cream in the grocery store, but it was exceedingly expensive ($7.00 a pint).  Not long after, it was discounted by half, so I bought a few to try to support their endeavour.  It was pleasant, but nothing out of the ordinary, and there was no coffee flavor to be had.  😦

I took the above picture at least two years ago, but it has just surfaced to become the subject of this entry.

Here is the URL that tells more about the truck itself.  You can navigate around their site to learn more about their product.

I hope one day I’ll buy an electric car. My next door neighbour has one, that is alway charging. Charging electric cars is free at my local mall. If I had one I would just go and charge it in the mall for free. (is it free?) I think so coz I always see a board saying charge your car…. I can’t remember when I last had good ice cream. Most of the things they sell as just frozen desserts. Gooey and very sugary too!

We have an excellent brand here called “Talenti” It comes in a plastic jar with a screw-top, so it stays fresh for a long time. I formerly wrapped the cardboard cartons in heavy plastic bags to store in the freezer. But these plastic containers are just great. We don’t eat a lot of ice cream, so a pint lasts a while. When the container is empty, I give it to our handyman who uses them for many things around his shop. One of the uses he puts them to is to use them for purposes for which he formerly purchased disposable little plastic “pitchers”. This makes us happy!

I don’t eat a lot of ice cream so I’ve never really bothered to look for good ice cream. I try to stay away from it. Talenti sounds Italian. I wonder whether we have it here. I live in a very small city so not a lot of ingredients in stores. I have tried to google but I can’t find it in my local stores. Maybe next time I’m in Toronto I shall try the bigger stores. Enjoy the day!
