Don’t be afraid to try different condiments on your food. We’ve discovered some delightful combinations by just being brave. You don’t need to douse a whole serving with something that you haven’t tried before – just put a bit on your plate and try it out.
Our latest delight is the grinder of lemon pepper. There is an adjustable top that allows three sizes of product to flow onto your food. We had been using the smallest – not sure why – but DH got brave (we are just wild and crazy people sometimes!) and adjusted it to MEDIUM! Wow, what a wonderful difference.
With lemons and limes these days being priced akin to precious metals, this grinder has become a mainstay. Haven’t tried it, but I’ll bet that mixing it with butter, and then making little dabs on a tray and freezing them, would make a very tasty treat for veggies, especially broccoli. I’d probably want to let it come to room temperature before using it, though, for maximum flavor.
Is that Soy sauce one with wheat as a major ingredient? Folks with gluten issues have to be very careful of items with suspicious ingredients lurking within. As a result, almost all commercial sauces are off limits.

And . . . as we both have direct knowledge of . . . soy can be problematic for those with thyroid issues! I use it with great caution!

I’ve used lemon pepper before but that was a long time ago, and I should try it again. I bake fish filets several times a week, and usually squirt lemon juice on them.

We both love fresh lemon juice squeezed on just about anything, but I found I was cutting, using, and then forgetting about them, thus wasting. Now that they are so expensive, I keep a closer eye on using each one up to the fullest, but frequently run out. The grinder is an adequate substitute, and a delight in its own way as well.

The Tomato Pesto is in the produce section of Safeway – on one of the tables across from where the main things are along the wall – more towards the front of the store than the back. Sort of across from where the Organic Produce is on the wall. You won’t be disappointed. I use it on my hamburger buns, too. Way better than runny catsup – oh, so flavorful. ;->

Try the pesto on things that you would normally use catsup on! Really tasty! Haven’t tried it, but would probably really make a good Thousand Island Dressing with Cole slaw dressing, or a burger slathering in combination with jalapeño salad dressing. Regular mayonnaise doesn’t have enough punch for me, so I get both of the above dressings from the refrigerated case in the produce section and use them as a base for my own perky dressings for sandwiches or sliced vegetables. Mostly too heavy for leaf salad dressings, but can be thinned with balsamic vinegar, or any vinegar, really. A little goes a long way, so few calories are consumed in the process.

I find it in the fresh produce section of Safeway. A friend in Colorado found it by checking their website for locations to buy.
