Grape Tomato Stir Fry
We’ve always admired these little grape tomatoes. Many decades ago, a friend brought some that she had grown to a pot luck lunch, and we were in love. They were fresh off the bush and room temperature – delightful. Since … Continue reading

Frankly Francophile Onion Soup
This soup has been on my menu and on my mind for a long time. I finally got it together this morning, and slow cooked a couple of big onions in my Crock-ette. Adding a quart of already-made bone broth, … Continue reading

Sloppy Jose “Burger”
This is the final dish that I made with the pre-cooked hamburger meat. I broke up the patty into the pan and added some saved pan deglazings to rehydrate the meat after its banishment in the refrigerator. When it was … Continue reading

Swiss Bacon Burger
Here is another use for the pre-cooked bacon. As mentioned in another post, I cooked four burgers, even though we were eating only two. A delicious lunch was the benefit the next day. Stay tuned! ;->

Now that I had this huge supply of bacon on hand, here is the first thing I made with it. Just a quicky lunch to hold us over until dinner. We’d had breakfast really late, so this was enough to … Continue reading

After Seven Years
After DH’s stem cell transplant procedure in December of 2007, he lost his taste for bacon. We were never BIG bacon eaters, but it had its place. Recently there was a sale on the store brand of bacon so I … Continue reading

Rainbow Chard
We spent 18 months in the Pacific Northwest in 2005 and 2006, and one of the great joys of the late summer and fall was the abundance of gorgeous produce. Rainbow chard was something I had never heard of before, … Continue reading

Anasazi – The Ancient Ones
Anasazi is loosely translated as The Ancient Ones, so here is a portrait of the burrito that housed the last of the Anasazi beans. And, yes, those are Brussels sprouts on the side. I had my Brussels sprouts worked into … Continue reading

Anasazi Chili
This was the follow-on to the Anasazi Enchilada. There was plenty of filling and beans left over, so a new dish was born. I added seasonings appropriate for chili and some broth. Broth? Yes, well, you want the chili to … Continue reading

Anasazi Enchilada
This is so named because I used Anasazi beans for part of the filling. Although this looks pretty fancy, it was dead simple. Inside there is the filling, which was merely the beans mashed up a bit with some of … Continue reading
